The London Bike-a-thon

I usually post my blog updates on Mondays, however on the Wednesdays leading up to event days I have decided to start to write about the various charities I am supporting. This Sunday, the 19th of July, I am participating in the London Bike-a-thon, which supports Leukaemia Research.  Leukaemia Research supports all types of blood related research and cancer prevention, including leukaemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s, and myeloma.I first cycled for Leukaemia Research in 2007.  That year a dear neighbour of mine died after her hard battle with leukaemia.  Monica was known for her wit, fashion, no-nonsense approach, and fighting spirit.  I decided to participate in the London Bike-a-thon in Monica’s memory, and also in the memory of my grandfather who died from pneumonia caused by a suppressed immune system related to treatment from lymphoma in 1990.The bike-a-thon is a great day out.  It is also a chance to get in some cycling practice along the Victoria Embankment prior to the London triathlon.  Once again my friend Bond will be joining me for the ride. (Bond is on the left, I am in the middle)If you wish to donate to my fundraising for Leukaemia Research, feel free to go to http://original.justgiving.com/donna_bikeathon/ to donate on the secure site provided by Justgiving.  Thanks for your support!
